General assistance with the resources of the genealogy collection is provided; however, the Library does not trace complete family histories or conduct in-depth research for patrons. Requests for genealogical assistance may be requested in person, by telephone, mail, fax, or email. Please email any requests to reference@champaigncountylibrary.org There is no charge for information scanned and emailed. There is a charge for any hard copies sent.

Urbana area newspapers from 1822 - 2018 are available online for FREE through this database. Search by name, keyword, etc. or browse through the paper by date. Click on the newspaper's name within the search results list to see a PDF scan of the actual newspaper.
FamilySearch Affiliate Library
The lending of microfilm from the Family History Center in Salt Lake City has been discontinued. You can find the digital images of select historical records on FamilySearch.org. Some items may require that you access it at a family history center or affiliate library and will display an error message when you try to access the site. This service is NOW AVAILABLE when using the library's computers.
