The mission of the Champaign County Library is to be a vital part of our community, to perform the library function of collecting, organizing, and making available information in a variety of formats, providing support for educational skills, access to research materials and reference information, materials for leisure-time use and activities, and programming that will enhance and broaden users' lives.
Roles assumed by the library for our service area are:
1. Popular materials provider, which includes materials such as new books, audiovisual materials, magazines, large-print materials, and children's materials.
2. Formal education support center, which provides reference assistance and materials for all ages, literacy materials, microfilm, CD-ROM products, and genealogical and local history sources.
3. Lifelong learning center, which provides information to develop skills for jobs, home economics, parenting, hobbies, and other interests.
